Our vision is a society that understands consuming less energy to perform the same amount or more work is a prudent investment and begins to grapple with the truth of our unsustainable energy policy.
We aspire to enrich the lives of all stakeholders including our employees, their families, strategic partners, shareholders, lenders and most importantly, our customers.
There’s only one boss, and whether a person shines shoes for a living or heads up the largest corporation in the world, the boss remains the same. It’s the customer. This is the person who pays everyone’s salary and who decides whether a business is going to succeed or fail. The customer doesn’t care if a business has been around for a hundred years or one day. And, the minute the company stops providing good service, the boss will find good service elsewhere.
This boss, the customer, has bought and will buy everything you have or will ever own. The customer bought all of your clothes, your home, your car, paid for your children’s education and your vacations. The customer pays all of your bills, and pays them in exact proportion to the way the boss is treated.
Employees who work deep inside a big building or in the field might think they’re working for the company that writes the paycheck, but they’re not. They’re working for the person who buys the product or service we produce; and, if the customer doesn’t like the product, or service, the boss won’t buy it. Eventually, if this continues, the customer fires the employees; in fact, the customer will fire everyone in the company from the president on down. And, the boss can do it by simply sending money someplace else; this is one of the reasons why taking pride and ownership of the work we do is so important. Aside from the pleasure that comes from doing an exceptionally good job, it helps attract more customers, keeps the ones we’ve got and insures we can provide a good life for our families.
Some of the largest companies in the world that had flourishing businesses only a few years ago are no longer in existence. They couldn’t – or didn’t – satisfy the customer. They forgot who the boss really was.
